50 Thoughts I Have While Doing Homework

I'm going to go out on a limb here and make a big assumption - nobody likes doing homework. Some of us don't mind as much as others, but no one gets excited about homework. Or at least no one I know. Most of the time I would rather do anything, including cleaning my whole apartment, but the homework I have. I thought I would share some of the thoughts that crossed my mind as I worked on a big writing assignment for class.

My Weekend To Do List for Staying Organized

For the fourth edition of My Weekend To Do List I'm going to be talking about how I use my weekends to get organized.  I genuinely enjoy getting and staying organized. Being organized just makes life run so much smoother and whenever you're going through a tough time or you're super busy, taking a few minutes to get organized over the weekend helps a ton! So here's 5 things I do on the weekend to stay organized during the week!

Fall Blog Post Ideas

As you've probably heard me say multiple times, I LOVE FALL! Realizing that my favorite season is upon us has given me some new inspiration and motivation with my blog. I updated my header for Halloween (the best fall holiday) and am working on several fall themed posts for this year, just like I did last year.

Fall Bucket List

Fall/Autumn is my favorite season. Cozy sweaters, berry, navy, and neutral colors, pumpkins, watching American Horror Story, The Addams Family, Sweeney Todd and the likes, the changing leaves - I love it all! I want to make the most of my favorite season and do some fun fall like activities.

Monthly Intentions | October Goals

I'm pretty excited for this month as October is my favorite month. I can pull out all those chunky sweaters I love, watch Corpse Bride and The Addams Family on repeat, enjoy the cool fall weather, visit the pumpkin patch, watch the changing leaves - I love it all!

October Goals

This month I am once again linking up with Jazmine and Angela's Monthly Intentions Blogger Goal Collaboration. There's a lot of other wonderful bloggers setting goals and sharing how they did with their goals from last month. If you're looking for some inspiration or just like seeing what goals other people set for themselves, check out a few of these lovelies' blogs.

September has been a pretty exhausting month in all honesty. Student teaching is proving to be as busy and time consuming as I had imagined and then some. It's a lot to keep track of since you're basically working full time for free and still have projects to work on for college credit and certification. Plus there are other parts of my life I want to keep up with so it has been a lot to try and juggle, but I'm trying to learn how to balance it all. The highs of this month have been catching up with on of my best friends who I hadn't seen since the end of April and feeling more and more successful in my teaching. The lows of this month have been my grandma breaking her hip and feeling like I totally failed at teaching a few times (even though I handled the situations as well as I could). But the real low has indeed been my grandma breaking her hip which means she was in the hospital for about a week and has spent the rest of the month in a rehab facility. I've only visited her a few times so I feel bad about that, but my dad and aunts have been constantly with her so I'm sure she has enough company!

How I did with my September goals:
1. Get a good score on my first project. I haven't gotten my score back yet, but I feel like I did pretty good on it. When I find out, I'll let you all know on Twitter.
2. Spend time with friends. I was able to stay with one of my good friends and meet her new roommate. We all had such a great time and it was great to be able to catch up in person. I also got to meet up with another good friend for lunch and it was great to see her too.
3. Post at least twice a week to Instagram. ❌ I posted 4 times this month in total. I honestly forget about posting to Instagram! I need to find a good time to post and make it a part of my routine.

October Goals

Publish new blog posts twice a week.

I've taken a week off each month since starting my student teaching. This month I want to post twice a week, each week. I have some blog posts I'm excited to create, so hopefully this will happen!

Post at least twice a week to Instagram.

Last month this didn't happen and like I said, I think I need to just find a good time to post and make it a part of my routine. I also think I might need to start taking photos on the weekend and post them during the week so that way I have pictures to post.

Find a way to keep my apartment clean.

I like having a clean environment. If my house is a mess I can't focus as well. It makes me feel like my life is chaotic when I come home and there's stuff all over the counters. So for this month, my goal is to find a way to keep my apartment clean throughout the week. I don't have a plan really, I think I'm just going to see how it goes and try to do one or two things each day.

Do something fun each weekend.

Lately the weekends have just been me catching up on class work, house work, and buying groceries. These are important, but I also want to make more time for doing something fun and for me on the weekends. There's a large state park near where I live that I'd like to go to before it's too cold to enjoy it. I'd also like to do a craft or art project, read a book, take a weekend to visit friends, and work on my blog (which is indeed fun).

September Favorites

September had a rocky start for me as I was still trying to figure out how to balance school/work, life, blogging, and family. I knew student teaching was going to be tough and it turned out to be just as crazy, busy, and time consuming as I thought it would be and then some. Balancing teaching from 7:30-4:00 each day (if not longer), keeping up with college classes and projects, attempting to post regularly on my blog and social media channels, staying in touch with family and friends, trying to make time for self-care, and doing general adult things like laundry, buying groceries, and all those other fun things turned out to be a lot to manage and something I wasn't quite prepared for. I still haven't quite figured out how to balance it well, but I'm getting closer to figuring it out. It's still tough, but I'm not as stressed about managing everything at the moment.

I'm never sure if I sound like an annoying complainer when I talk about how hard I'm finding student teaching and I don't want it to sound like I dislike teaching because I really do love it. It's just that after being really good at being a student for 16 years, I'm having to switch to being the teacher and although I've been responsible for myself for the past 4 years at college, it seems a lot more real now that I'm working all day. And I think this is normal to feel overwhelmed by the massive change from being a student to working full time no matter what your career is. Or at least I'm hoping so!

It hasn't been all overwhelming though! I got to meet up with 2 of my friends and had a lovely time with both of them. It was so good to be with them and laugh and have some real talk about life. I am feeling more and more successful teaching and getting to know my students better which I really enjoy. I'm also starting to find or make more time to do things I enjoy like blogging and reading.

Netflix

I've been watching lots of documentaries lately. My personal favorite was Witches: A Century of Murder which is about the witch hunt in Britain during the 1600s. I've learned about the Salem Witch Hunt in America, but it was interesting to learn about how the witch hunt got to Britain (which is how it eventually made it's way to the US). If you enjoy history this is definitely a good documentary. It's also a fitting documentary for October if you are all about that Halloween life.

Music

The song I haven't been able to get out of my head this month is "Closer" by The Chainsmokers and Halsey. I love Halsey's voice and that chorus is just so catchy!

Memory

Standing around my friend's kitchen talking about how we're doing. There's just something so amazing about having friends that you can be honest and silly with.

Food

I have been obsessed with Chinese food lately! I get Chinese take out at least once a week and have made my own a few times. Rice noodles, orange chicken, crab rangoon, fried rice - I can't get enough!

Blog

A Girl Obsessed. I've been reading this blog for a while now and I can't believe it hasn't made it into my monthly favorites until now! Mandy writes beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and blogging advice posts - basically a bit of  everything. My favorites from this month are 10 Types of Blog Posts That Get Tons Of Views, 20 Ways To Treat Yourself On A Budget, and How To Be A Happy Blogger.
